Angels In Africa: Lift The Line

At the heart of Angels In Africa: Lift The Line is a work that has travelled through generations of dance history. Diversion of Angels, created by Martha Graham in 1948, is a landmark work that traces three expressions of love – adolescent, romantic and mature.

In this conversation, Lorenzo Pagano and Holly Gruver take us inside the work, its history, and what it means to bring this masterwork to South Africa.

About us

A contemporary ballet company that champions artists

A contemporary ballet company that champions artists and displays truthful thought and emotion through dance. WGRUV is bringing reform to the world of dance and changing the scope by adding hope-filled story telling.

WGRUV (Est. 2020) was founded upon a respect for the classics which inspired us to embrace techniques in both ballet and contemporary that assist in mastering the art of movement and performance.
